Cathy N. Davidson is HASTAC’s cofounder and codirector. She is Senior advisor to the Chancellor on Transformation, Distinguished Professor of English, Digital Humanities, and Data Analysis and Visualization, and Founding Director of the Futures Initiative at the Graduate Center CUNY.  She is also R. F. DeVarney
Professor Emerita of Interdisciplinary Studies at Duke University where she was Duke’s (and the nation’s) first Vice Provost for Interdisciplinary Studies. The author of over twenty books, she was appointed by President Obama to the National Council on the Humanities (2011-17) and served as the first educator on the Board of Directors of Mozilla (2012-18). She is the recipient of the 2016 Ernest L. Boyer Award for Significant Contributions to Higher Education and The New Education: Revolutionizing the University for a World in Flux (Basic Books, 2017) has been honored with the 2019 Frederick W. Ness Book Award from the Association of American Colleges and Universities.  She is the 2021 recipient of the Advocacy Award from the Council of Arts and Sciences. Her most recent book, coauthored with Christina Katopodis, is The New College Classroom (Harvard UP, Sept 2002). She has twice keynoted the Nobel Prize Forum on the Future of Learning, in Chile and Stockholm.
