Annie Valk is currently Professor of History at the Graduate Center, City University of New York, where she is also the Executive Director of the American Social History Project/Center for Media and Learning. At the GC, she teaches classes in public history, serves on the advisory board for a new program in Public Scholarship, and works with students and colleagues to develop digital resources for teaching and learning history. With Teresa Mangum, she edits the book series, Humanities and Public Life, at the University of Iowa Press. She also serves as one of the series editors for the Oxford University series on oral history. When she’s not working, she volunteers as a certified citizen tree pruner, caring for street trees and tending butterfly gardens in her neighborhood, Jackson Heights, Queens.
