- Abstract:
- The "Urlo". From the deconstructive rage/fury to the ‘yes’ assertion. In this article we offer a series of tableaux belonging to contemporary Romance literatures written by women, through a focus on a common feature which is that of the "urlo" (scream). Based on a selection of works mainly Italian, but also taken from other literatures of the Romance sphere, we address this motif of "urlo" in its multiple aspects: from pain to revenge, from suffering to self-assertion, screams in poetry and novels end up creating a kind of bridge from a linguistic area to another, from a literary genre to another. These connections are what we hope to point out in this article, thus reflecting the echo of the "urlo" of women’s voices from the beginning of the 20th century to the present.
