- Abstract:
- Artists’ files document the careers of artists over time and can reflect the development of the organizations that collect them. They are rich (and in some cases unique) sources of information. This conference poster reflects on the context, design, and findings of a recent research project to identify the current state of artists’ file management behavior of Canadian GLAMs (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) and ARCs (artist-run centers). Based on results obtained through an online survey sent in March 2022 to approximately 200 GLAMs and ARCs across Canada, this poster provides a snapshot of current artists’ file management in Canada and represents a contribution to an important, but under-documented professional activity.
