- Abstract:
- The rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have raised concerns about whether AI will surpass and eventually replace humans, leading to a future dominated by digitally sentient entities. This paper challenges this notion by examining the impact of AI evolution on humanity from an evolutionary theorist's perspective. Instead of viewing AI as an existential threat, this paper argues that a better understanding of evolution, kinship, and cooperation allows for a more informed and balanced view of the future relationship between humans and AI. The principles of evolution do not necessitate the replacement of humans by AI systems, and the potential for cooperation and symbiosis can lead to a mutually beneficial relationship between both entities. By reassessing the impact of AI evolution on humanity through the lens of evolutionary theory, this paper offers a more balanced and informed understanding of the future relationship between humans and AI, ultimately paving the way for a collaborative and thriving coexistence.
