    Abstract:
A political system with power sharing under a written constitution and a government made up of at least two orders—a central or federal government and the governments of the constituent units—are the fundamental minimal structures needed for a nation to claim to practice federalism. Financial resources are allocated to each level of government in accordance with their unique needs. This paper examines restructuring and Nigeria's political evolution with a focus on the necessity for a review of the current political system and system of governance to enable the implementation of real federalism. As a result, there have been numerous constitutional disputes, political impasses, and legal battles, endangering the political and economic stability of the Nigerian state and causing conflict between different ethnic groups over resources and power. As a result, there is a strong sense of alienation and ethnic identity politics. In order to eliminate laws that undermine federalism and allow for the implementation of true federalism, this paper suggests that the political system be overhauled through the process of constitutional amendment. The article suggests that true federalism should be sincerely addressed and implemented for the benefit of all, and that there is a need to enthrone creative and transformative leadership.
