    Abstract:
The Department of Image Collections’ database, Ex Libris (Primo on the front end), provides our researchers with an amalgamation of provenance resources that are outlined in the provenance notes field and illustrated with digital images in the IIIF viewer, displaying collectors’ and institutions’ marks and stamps, and often most valuably, the notations on the verso of the image from important scholars, dealers and connoisseurs such as Bernard Berenson, Wilhelm von Bode, and Max J. Friedländer. The records can include links to internal and external sources, such as the Archives of American Art, which, in combination with our collection, also house part of the Victor D. Spark archive, and the Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie (RKD) the Van Diemen archives. A selection of contemporary photographs, showing works of art in situ, underscore the connections that can be made in regard to ownership. Our database makes material from all corners of our collection digitally accessible and is a valuable tool for provenance research.
