- Abstract:
- Peer-to-peer (P2P) lending is part of financial technology (fintech) booming and has huge potential to grow in Indonesia due to the unbankable population. This paper will start with The Policy Cycle section to discuss theoretical perspective of policy cycle and specifically policy instrument. It will be continued by P2P Lending Policy section to discuss how policies around P2P lending is established and who are the key players. The next section is Identifying P2P Lending Policy Cycle to apply the theories to P2P lending policy and discuss what might be missing in current policy context. The paper concludes that the P2P policy in Indonesia needs to be strengthened by moving the provision to a higher degree by making it as an Indonesian Law. New key players such as legislative, consumer protection association, academic researchers and industry-related experts should be engaged to enrich the law-making process.
