    Abstract:
The Michigan Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) supports expecting, breastfeeding, and non- breastfeeding postpartum mothers with children up to age five whose development may be at risk due to lack of nutritional intake. The mission of the WIC program is to provide nutritional food to mothers and young children whose growing bodies may need additional support. WIC works to build a foundation of healthy eating for mothers and infants so they may develop sustainable habits that will stay with them as they grow up. The goal of this recipe book is to make unique recipes that fuel and support our bodies accessible to all individuals regardless of financial status. It is imperative to make space for mothers and young children in the dialogue of nutritional practices.
