    Abstract:
    Generalizations in scholarly works may prove helpful in understanding different literary trends of an era but not without losing many nuances. In Urdu, 19th Century is interpreted in binary oppositional manner with Sir Syed a pivotal point and other writers were considered either his extension or his rivals. The classic example of this generalization is Awadh Punch, a literary Journal which had a different attitude towards colonialism than Sir Syed's. The oversimplifications could only let the scholars to interpret its different authors in anti-Sir Syed perspective. This article attempts to analyze a text by Nawab Syed Muhammad Azad to underscore its distinct qualities and different approach towards colonial imprints on Subcontinent.
