    Abstract:
    An attempt to provide context to events that marked the start of the so-called Joyce Wars. It all began with Kidd's April 1985 paper, "Errors of Execution in the 1984 Ulysses" and his prior interview with David Remnick in the Washington Post, "The War over Ulysses."
