    Abstract:
A sustainable planet demands that human population be limited, while at the same time the empowerment of girls and women promises reductions in family size and improvements in health and prosperity. Here I discuss why reproductive autonomy is critical to both ends, and how discarding outmoded ideas held by both conservatives and liberals can help enhance both goals.
