- Abstract:
- This is a unit plan centering on the idea of Aesthetics within Roleplaying Games. It includes a five-day unit that would challenge students perspective and prior knowledge of visual aesthetics, within a different medium. Roleplaying games give students an outlet to explore narratives and story-telling, which can benefit their identities as writers. The unit also includes a culminating assignment, where students will give a "sales pitch" on a game concept they have created. Students will use their knowledge of roleplaying games and aesthetics to create a their own concept of a game they would maybe play or create. The activities and assignments leading up to the culminating assignment, point students towards real examples and have them think critically about the connection between RPG's and aesthetic. The file includes a copy of the lesson plans, including examples of standards from the state of Alabama.
