    Abstract:
    Ankuran Dutta, managing trustee of Anamika Ray Memorial Trust, Guwahati, had claimed that around 52 lakhs medical injuries are recorded every year in India and 98,000 people in the country lose their lives in a year because of medical negligence.1 These statistics are alarming and encouraging at the same time. This inspiration to conduct a study of medical negligence from a very impartial window. The examination is performed in two of the India’s major areas. First is South District of New Delhi, the national capital, and second is North 24 Paraganas of West Bengal, the place from where the famous Anuradha Saha’s2 case began. Both of the cities have large number of hospitals with nation’s best doctors and specialists. Also, the residents of these cities are well educated and aware. This paper aims to carefully analyze and examine the statistics which are obtained from authentic government sources for the Consumer Redressal Forums. The scrutinized numbers provided below offer a ground of critique and therefore the author has provided eye- opening study for the same.
