- Abstract:
- The aim of this paper is to show how historical consciousness is constructed through a symbolic language that emerges from the memory shared by a society, both individually and collectively. This process constitutes other mechanisms derived from thought itself, such as ideology and identity. The hypothesis is that collective memory, which is present in the regional literature of Baja California Sur as a constructor of a metaphorical language through images of the past, is important to understand the present and future of today's society. The result obtained is the creation of a critical discourse in the voice of the narrator and the characters, in this case, from El retorno de la hoguera by Omar Castro. Discourse acquires a political connotation by reflecting on itself and questioning the present, grouping, establishing subjective positions with respect to society and other identities.
