- Abstract:
- This critical essay provides context and background information on the production and reception of the East German film "Coming Out" (1989). This film was monumental for multiple reasons, including that it was the first and last East German feature film to focus on homosexuality. The essay also discusses "The Other Love" (1988), the short documentary that premiered the year prior to "Coming Out" and was East Germany's first cinematic treatment of homosexuality.
