- Abstract:
- The main purpose of this report is to replicate, to analyse and to describe the main findings obtained in the work of Auvray and Rabinovich (2019). To this end, different statistical models and techniques are employed to clean the datasets to arrive to similar results and graphs to the ones obtained by the authors in their original paper. The software R has been used throughout the whole process and additional references were employed in certain cases to complement the non-statistical parts of the present work. The following paper is divided into four sections: an introduction to the problematic and main results of the research, a presentation and description of the datasets utilized (Compustat and WIOD), the replication of the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) panel models, and finally an introduction to the “quantification” debate regarding the degree of realism of data with a practical example regarding the variable “Capital expenditures (CAPEX)” from the Compustat dataset. The conclusions, the code utilized as well as the academic references are presented at the end of the work.
- Notes:
- This essay was the final report for the course on heterodox econometrics at the Université Sorbonne Paris Nord (USPN) on January 20th, 2021.
