The IUCN has repeatedly confirmed that coral species have been identified to have a worse chance of survival as compared to mammals, amphibians, and birds, and the data has been falling steeply every passing year. This Extended Essay focuses on evaluating 4 individual coral reef systems using 4 pre- existing S.W.O.T. (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) models and quantifying them using a survey. In addition to this, a modified PCI model has been implemented which further assesses the health of each coral reef system. Based on the values, a Coral Strength Index will be developed, and based on the values obtained, possible conservation strategies that would be effective in safeguarding the reef system, will be suggested.
