    Abstract:
    Introduces a brief new article that represents a culmination of the author's 26 years active in online education, and as President of the World Association for Online Education since 1998. But the article actually goes beyond educational technology to explaining the difference between a field and a discipline, and serves as a manifesto on the mission of Academia in global society.
