    Abstract:
Giuseppe Chiari's work is emblematic of that totality and interdisciplinarity of the arts which was so much discussed between the end of the 1950s and the first part of the following decade. Through a never dogmatic practice of music and the visual arts, and through a rigorous methodological approach, Chiari contributed in an extraordinary way to the debate on the role of art and the artist that was developing in the 1960s. In this study drawn up for the exhibition held at Palazzo Bisaccioni in Jesi (Italy), the development of his artistic research is analyzed in relation to the national and international cultural trends in which he operated.
