- Abstract:
- The authors seek to put together the numerous pieces of a materialist puzzle which for over a century has haunted criticism. Against culturalist readings of Conrad's famous novella, the correct position of the problem, so it is argued, unveils the pact with the living fetish, crawling in the ‘white’ heart of African colonial darkness.
