- Abstract:
- This study focuses on providing an analysis of the making of the planetary climate crisis, focusing on how our definition of the historical/ecological period which we living in right now and the way in which the forces that have created this condition have been conceptualized. This question is approached through a critical analysis of capitalism and the Nature versus Society binary, asking how a “global reality” has been created around this binary and capitalism, and what their past and present impact to the world has been. However, this paper is not motivated by the pursuit of proving a central argument or by the pursuit of making a point to motivate the reader to action – although these could by eventual by-products. It is rather motivated by the need to provide a historical and contextual background and analysis of the conceptualization and development of the ecological crisis which grips the world today.
- Notes:
- I have deposited this as an "article", however, please note that this was a term paper written for an undergraduate course titled "Origins of Planetary Crisis". I have edited the file to remove any personal information - such as my student ID - and kept the body of the work intact in terms of content.
