    Abstract:
The digitisation of analogue film and the archiving of the digitised material is a complex task and requires not only technical decisions but also a discussion on how to make the resulting digitised material accessible. This contribution will start by outlining the concept of preservation for film and then present the current state of longterm preservation of audio-visual media. Furthermore, the article will talk about the digitisation of analogue films, focusing on the technical differences between digitisation for preservation on the one hand and access on the other.
