- Abstract:
- Building Digital Archives as We Fight, a panel sponsored by the Digital Humanities Caucus of the American Studies Association, will consider the affordances and challenges of building digital archives, as well as the ethical dimensions of using emerging technologies that affect the process and pace of digital archiving. Drawing on firsthand experience building digital archives, panelists will address questions of how we should curate and archive sensitive material, how the immediacy of our fight informs our archiving practices, and how communities can benefit—and also be put at risk—through the publication and circulation of digital archives. The panel will take place at the 2019 American Studies Association Annual Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii, Saturday, November 9, 2:00-3:45 pm.
