- Abstract:
- The presenter used his Japanese literacy and knowledge of social media at an early stage to enhance the integrative motivation of students toward English as a Foreign Language by engaging them in their Japanese-language-only social network Mixi.
- Notes:
- The presenter had delivered the opening keynote address at the 1st Wireless Ready Symposium, simultaneously in the 3D virtual world Second Life. This Proceedings article was expanded into the well-cited (but not freely available online) book chapter "Social Networking Behind Student Lines in Japan" in the Handbook of Research on Web 2.0 and Second Language Learning (ISBN 978-1-60566-190-2). The slideshow for "Social Networking Behind Student Lines with Mixi" is available at Slideshare.
