    The Italian book here reviewed was published later on in a much larger Portuguese version, namely Giuseppe Marcocci, "A consciência de um império: Portugal e o seu mundo, sécs. XV-XVII" (Coimbra: Imprensa da Universidade de Coimbra, 2013).
